<p>The York Barbican is a multi-purpose entertainment venue located in York, England. It was opened in 1989 and was initially designed as a conference centre. However, it has since been refurbished and expanded to become a popular destination for live events, such as music, comedy, and sports.</p>
<p>The venue features a 1,500 seating capacity and a 1,900 standing capacity. It has a variety of spaces available for hosting events, including a main auditorium, a smaller studio theatre, and several meeting and conference rooms. The venue is owned by the City of York Council.</p>
<p>The York Barbican has hosted a diverse collection of musical acts ranging from The Pretenders to Boyzlife, in addition to comedy acts such as Jimmy Carr and John Bishop. It also hosts sporting events such as the UK Snooker Championships.</p>
